Identifying research topics

Together with the DAM members and with the involvement of the DAM committees, the DAM’s core area of research has developed a topic identification process for the DAM research missions. The German Marine Research Alliance thus has a solid, science-based and transparent procedure for identifying and selecting socially relevant topics for future research missions from the scientific community, together with stakeholders and all DAM committees:

The procedure is described in the guideline “Establishment of DAM research missions – Guideline review, evaluation and decision-making procedures”. The guideline required in paragraph 10.3 of the DAM statutes was finalized in 2021 and approved by the DAM Administrative Council.
