WORKSHOP / OPEN LAB EVENING: HOW TO LIVE WITH SEA

THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF THE OCEANS, COASTS AND SEAS IS A MAJOR CHALLENGE

Time
Thursday, 12. January 2023, 17:00 - 20:00

Location

Futurium Berlin

The sustainable use of the seas, coasts and oceans is a major challenge. Plastic waste washing up on beaches or oiled seabirds after a tanker accident are visible sign. Focal point of this Open Lab Evening is civil engagement in dialogue with marine sciences for future decisions on the protection and use of the oceans.

How do we want to live with the oceans? How can we deal with the seas, coasts and oceans in a sustainable way that safeguards our natural livelihoods? How do we shape a desirable future on our “blue planet”? In this Open Lab evening you can exchange ideas for a sustainable future of our oceans with other workshop participants and develop creative impulses and visions together.

In the workshop, we will use the Future Box, that was developed by the German Marine Research Alliance (DAM) for the Ocean Future Lab with the support of Futurium. DAM will use the results of those workshops when discussin with decision-makers from politics, society and industry.

The Ocean Future Lab is a project in the Year of Science 2022. This year, the focus is on questions for research and civil engagement. As an innovative example, the Ocean Future Lab aims to provide impulses and participatory formats on the topic of sustainability in dealing with coasts, seas and oceans.
