On 6 and 7 May 2025, the first National Marine Conference will take place under the motto ‘Living Seas’, organised by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection (BMUV). The conference brings together scientists from marine research and related fields with stakeholders from politics, business and society. The aim is to develop joint perspectives for the protection and sustainable use of coasts, seas and oceans.

The DAM will contribute its scientific expertise to various programme items. Among other things, the programme includes

  • Participation in the panel discussion ‘International marine protection’
  • Impulse and subsequent panel discussion on mission-oriented research from different perspectives (politics, authorities, civil society, business), supplemented by
  • Deep Dives: ‘Knowledge for marine conservation’ with scientists from the current DAM research missions CDRmare, sustainMare, mareXtreme, among others, providing insights into their work.

At the DAM information stand, visitors can try out the Meere Online information portal and the Interactive World Ocean and find out about other topics.
